The CalRecycle article on 'Green Building Materials' gives a brief introduction to sustainable building and states that it is advantageous to building owners as it has more flexibility, cuts down money expenditure, boosts occupants' well-being and ability to perform, energy saving, and lastly, costs lesser to upkeep or replace over the building's life. Secondly, the article tells the audience defines green building products or materials as environmentally friendly and that it plays an important role in reducing waste over the whole life cycle of the building. This information is followed by the material or product selection criteria which are categorized into resource efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, water conservation, and affordability which the article goes on to describe in detail. Thirdly, the article states 'three basic steps of product selection': researching, evaluating, and selecting. The research part requires the collation of data and information from reliable sources. The evaluation step allows the building owner to further know more about each of the products, compare them with different sellers and eliminate those that are unsuitable. The final step would be selecting the best and most suitable product after all the eliminations.

Assignment 1C: Critical Reflection

  Throughout the course of the critical thinking module. I have been able to upgrade my existing skills and learn new skills that I did not know I did not have until this module. Firstly, at the beginning of this module, I was under the impression that my presentation skills were decent. However, during lessons, when I was being put on the spot, I realized that I got very flustered and panicky that I rambled and did not do a good job presenting my thoughts and ideas.
