GREEN BUILDING MATERIALS (Assignment 1)

The Myth of Costly Green Buildings:

One of the downsides of encouraging building owners to choose green building materials or products for their buildings would be the misconception that it would be expensive. However, the article 'The myth of costly green buildings' suggests all the reasons why that misconception is what is, a misconception. A study that lasted for a year by the Squire Mech Pte Ltd (jointly with RSP Architects Planners & Engineers (Pte) Ltd, Building System & Diagnostics Pte Ltd, and Arcadis Singapore Pte Ltd) suggests after analyzing the lifecycle cost of buildings that have achieved Gold, GoldPlus and Platinum green mark ratings have found to have a higher energy and water savings. These savings have been calculated to be way more than it eliminates the initial investment cost.
